企画書・概要 (Abstract of Project Proposal)

These days, we are required to reconsider the significance of "richness" of society. In particular, the maintenance of "richness" of agriculture that is an issue of human-nature relationships is needed to be considered not only within the sphere of the simple idea of food supply. Namely, not only "what" to maintain but also "how" to be maintained is an important issue to be discussed in realizing the 'richness' in the more and more dynamic ecosystem and society. It is the very time to consider this problem, now that most people who have grown up in the pre-high-growth period are in their 80s.
This research project focuses on the case of local "heirloom crops" of Shizuoka prefecture, Japan, and its cultivation technique and related cultural issues to discuss how heirloom crops have been maintained to date and how to protect them in the future. In addition, referring to other similar cases in Shizuoka and other prefectures, we seek for ideal ways of collaboration among farmers, cooks, food processors, consumers and researchers on local basis.
This project will make its contribution by exploring the value lying in the diachronic and synchronic human-nature relationships of the local community and presenting it as a new social value. Specifically, it will construct fundamental information basis and frameworks for the maintenance of "richness" in Shizuoka prefecture and will develop human resource. Furthermore, it will support local people's independent development of "richness" in the future society.
