The objective of this project is to develop an analysis about the political violence in Colombia, from the inquiry by the practices of listening, performed for people that in different forms are in regarding the pain of others. The research, aims to recognize how to build an ethics of listening, picking up the experiences, lessons learned, the mistakes and successes of people who have dedicated part of their lives to hear testimonies, memories, stories and experiences of war and political violence in Colombia. In these lessons we seek to broaden the spectrum of understanding about that a society on the way to the "post-conflict" needs for not "turn a deaf ears" to the more than 50-year history of violence and war.The research is based on a qualitative model of Participatory Action Research in which we will to recognize the accumulated experiences of many people who have known the stories of pain and suffering from the armed conflict in Colombia. Based on this model, the research also pretend to socialize this accumulated knowledge and help to build an ethos of listening that promotes reconciliation through the recognition of others and their wounds.

実施報告書・概要 (Summary of Final Report)

Project summary
For two years, about 170 interviews were conducted with professionals who register or accompany victims of the Colombian armed conflict. The research inquired into the ways in which they relate to the experiences of pain and suffering caused by the war and their ethical and political positions in the face of violence. Based on the experiences of these professionals, a Listening Lab was built where pedagogical tools were built to work with public servants and social leaders. Four Roving Listening Seminars were held in which an average of 45 people participated in three Colombian regions around the question: How to listen the experiences of pain produced by war in Colombia?

A web page of the project that contains the main results was constructed.
3 pedagogical tools were built.
Two academic articles and two book chapters were prepared.
Four itinerant seminars with national and international facilitators were held in 3 regions of Colombia with the participation of 45 people on average.
