企画書・概要 (Abstract of Project Proposal)

There are eight uranium mines in Mongolia, which the government closed in 1990s. However, some organizations reported in the internet illegal mining and dumping of radiation substances. Such uncontrolled radiation dumping may cause people's severe health issues. There is no reports of radiation exposure and health disorders among people who live in the vicinity of the mines in Mongolia. Moreover, the people might not know the situation.
Before the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant Accident in 2011, the residents did not know about radiation contamination and health disorders. Then when it occurred, the people did not know how to act and suffered from the accident. Based on these facts, we shall share our experiences and assist Mongolians to prepare against radiation exposure and maintain their health.
Therefore, we propose a project that is consisted of two parts, a) to study their environmental radiation level and health status, and b) to introduce a community initiative of activities in order to keep their good health through preparing against radiation exposure. The study will assist them by sharing correct information and technical approaches fostering the activities. We will verify which approaches were effective and efficient, and what factors were more influential to enable and sustain their activities.
