企画書・概要 (Abstract of Project Proposal)

Climate change is one of the greatest challenges facing the world this century. Many cities in Asia are targets for ongoing effects of climate change, particularly in Southeast Asia where our shared cultures are based on agriculture and water living, and major cities lie at sea level. We must collaborate so that we can tackle this ongoing crisis as one region. In this project, we will select climate-vulnerable sites in Bangkok, Thailand; Penang, Malaysia; and Jakarta, Indonesia, to serve as case studies. The local project team will research and analyze the site’s environmental and social conditions, and dialogue with the community to co-create design solutions to increase local climate resilience. Over the course of the grant period, each city will host a workshop to gather project participants, local experts, community members, policymakers, and other stakeholders. We will examine the local case study and share project updates and lessons learned. Additionally, we will create a social media platform to engage a wider audience across Southeast Asia. The grant will result in design guidelines and recommendations for implementation in Bangkok, Penang, Jakarta, and other cities with similar climate issues. This raise public awareness of climate challenges and solutions across Southeast Asia.
